President Kovind wishes nation on eve of Ganesh Chaturthi


New delhi, Sep 1 (IANS): President Ram Nath Kovind on Sunday greeted the people of India on the eve of Ganesh Chaturthi.

"The celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi marks the birth of Lord Ganesh, who epitomises learning, knowledge and prosperity. These represent values and goals that we must imbibe to achieve national development and welfare for all sections of society", said Kovind through a statement.

Ganesh Chaturthi celebrates the birth of Ganesh. The festival is marked by the installation of Ganesh across the country as well observing of the rituals in homes.

The 10-day festival is celebrated throughout India but in Maharashtra, it is celebrated with great fervour and gaiety.

The rituals of Ganeshotsav involve chanting and for 10 days Lord Ganesh is worshipped.
