Mangaluru, Sep 4: St Aloysius College Higher Primary School, Kodialbail celebrated Teachers Day on September 4 at the school auditorium.

The programme began by invoking God’s blessings through a prayer song. The chief guest of the day was Vishwas Rebimbus. The other dignitaries present were the correspondent - Fr Gerald Furtado SJ, Vice president PTA - Arvind Rao, headmistress – Philomena Lewis.

The significance of the day was highlighted by the students of std V. The chief guest along with the dignitaries honoured the portrait of Dr S Radhakrisna with flowers.

Introduction of the chief guest was done by Poornima.



The chief guest in his message said that teachers are greater than parents, as they mould a child’s personality and try to bring out the best fruits in their lives. They are the source of knowledge and inspiration. They are like the milestones in our lives. He fondly recalled his childhood with his teachers and was privileged to be present at his school after many years.

Fr Gerald Furtado in his message recalled late President of India - Dr A P J Abdul Kalaam and said he was an old student of the Jesuits in Trichy, besides being a teacher. He would like to go back to his classroom and teach. He was a man of great knowledge and a simple personality.

The correspondent of the school said that the school has an excellent band of teachers and appreciated them for the dedication in their work.

Cluster level ‘Pratibha Kaaranji’ winners who had competed in various competitions were felicitated with prizes. A gratitude card honoured those students whose parents had helped in the chess tournament which was held in July.

This was followed by a cultural programme by standard V students. The students greeted their teachers with a rose while the wishing song was sung followed by entertainment. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks.
