BJP releases clip on Art 370 to blame 'historical blunder' on Nehru

New Delhi, Sep 4 (IANS): The BJP on Wednesday launched a 10-minute video clip that blames the Kashmir problem on former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, even as BJP President Amit Shah and BJP Working President J.P. Nadda met former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Jagmohan on Tuesday as part of the BJP's month-long 'Sampark and Janjagran Abhiyan'.

The 9-minute-59-second infographic is titled 'Anucched 370 ka nirastikaran: Ek aitihasik bhul ka sudhar' (Abrogation of Article 370: Undoing a historical blunder).

It gives a crisp glimpse as to why Article 370 was brought in, how it was allowed to stay inspite of being labelled 'temporary'.

The clip starts with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech this year from the Red Fort, "If you were so much convicted (about Article 370), you should have come forward and made it permanent. But even you knew that what happened was wrong. But you lacked the 'himmat' (courage) to undo it".

It highlights how soon after independence, Sardar Patel was given the responsibility to unify the 562 provinces which he did. But the responsibility to unify J&K with India was kept away from him by Nehru, claims the video released by BJP.

It blames the issue on India's first Prime Minister for taking the matter to the United Nations, for bringing in Article 370 in the first place and thus creating a dispute out of nothing.

BJP has called the contentious Article that has now been abrogated as the root cause of terrorism and bloodbath in the valley.

The video that will be circulated across India has shown BJP and Jan Sangh's "commitment to abrogating Article 370". "When we were two or we are 303 (number of MPs), we were always committed to this," says the narrator of the clip.

By bringing in how its mentor Syama Prasad Mukherjee marched to then J&K and died under mysterious circumstances for its unification with India and how former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee fought for the cause, a careful narrative is being spun by the BJP of those who are for and those who are against the abrogation.

Old photos of Modi trying to hoist the tricolour in Srinagar only add to that narrative.

The fact that BJP uses Hindi as the medium of communication for this clip shows it's target audience is mainly in north and western part of India and the 'aam aadmi'.

Sources in BJP say not only will it be shown in BJP offices right at the block levels but will simultaneously be circulated through WhatsApp among pro-BJP groups.

As the saffron party embarked on a massive outreach programme with Shah and Nadda meeting former J&K Governor Jagmohan in Delhi, this clip will only add teeth to the ferocity with which it wants to reach out and cash in electorally in the upcoming Assembly elections in four states including Maharashtra and Haryana.

How does BJP is going to defend RSS Draft Plan for Nagaland Accord by Jagdamba Mall, a known face of the RSS in the Northeast and Article 371A, Nagaland having a separate constitution, flag, currency and membership of the UN?

It says, “All the top-ranking leaders of all Naga militant organisations will be honoured by giving them the equivalent ranks/spots as governors, ambassadors, officials in the Army and other security forces provided they have requisite academic qualifications, sound health and above all, a will to serve the nation as a dignified soldier/central government officers.”

“A Naga regiment shall be created to absorb the young surrenderers (sic).” Those who surrender would be paid an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh each besides the “general amnesty amount of Rs 5 lakh”.

The economic package suggested in the “draft” comprises Rs 1 lakh crore meant “for industrialization and overall development of the existing Nagaland”.

The situation between Nagaland and Jammu and Kashmir is different since Nagaland got statehood following an agreement,". Nagaland became the 16th state of the country on December 1, 1963.

Article 370 is not temporary provision: Para 7 of J&K accession treaty.

BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy has emerged as the face of hardcore Hindutva ideology in recent years with his utterances often aimed at promoting the unification of Hindus and the weakening of India’s Muslim community. But, a viral old video of Swamy’s interview with journalist Vinod Dua suggests that he was not always so rabid with his anti-Muslim views.

In the interview, Swamy also goes on to highlight the BJP’s hypocrisy on Article 370 as he says, “Take for example Article 370. Now there’s similar Article 371, but they (the BJP) will never talk about that. That deals with North-East, which says the same thing.”

After 'Demonetisation', revoking Art 370 is another 'historical blunder' for which BJP has no answers than a video clip.

One of the “truths” manufactured by the RSS is that it was Nehru who forced Article 370 on India while Sardar Patel, the first home minister of India was opposed to it. The RSS leaders both inside the Modi government and outside ceaselessly keep on blaming Nehru as the sole architect of Article 370, giving Kashmir special status.

After making 'historical blunder' without the Kashmirs and constitutional validity is now defending the stand with video while the valley is a complete lockdown for the month.
In the nine minutes of blunder video, never gives the true sense that SARDAR PATEL FACILITATED ITS ADOPTION BY THE CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY WHILE NEHRU WAS IN USA ON OFFICIAL TOUR. Documented by Vidya Shankar, a private secretary to Sardar (1946-50) &was latter’s most trusted advisor.
RSS bandwagon of liars consciously tries to keep under wrap the actual debate on Article 370 in the CA. It took just less than half a day for the CA to admit Article 370 in the Constitution and apart from Dr. Rajendra Prasad and Gopalaswami Ayyangar senior Hindu leaders, namely, Pandit Thakurdas Bhargava, RK Sidhwa, Pandit Hirday Nath Kunzuru, K Santhanam and Mahavir Tyagi participated in the discussion; none opposed the ratification. It is to be noted that many of the members were known as Hindu nationalists. More importantly, Syama Prasad Mukherjee was also a member of the CA and signed the Constitution on November 26, 1949, with Article 370 intact. He did not think it fit even to mildly express his unease against the special status of J&K which was done by a Hindu nationalist member, Jaspat Roy Kapoor while discussing the Draft Constitution on November 21, 1949. He said: “I only wish that Kashmir should also have been brought in on the same level as other States but, unfortunately, much to our dissatisfaction & and chagrin, if I may say so, this would not be done. This is a delicate subject and I will not say anything more on it.”

Gutt-less RSS members were nowhere when the battle of freedom was fought. They can't see the life laid down by Congress partymen for the nation. Only what they see is Art. 370.

It's been a month since the abrogation of Art. 370. We are still hearing the drum-beating of BJP, nothing from the people of J&K.

How to believe what is happening there ? Will this be another 'hitting the trees' ?

Alright, BJP under Modi as PM is a saint, saviour of Bhatatmatha. Now, why didn't it occur to ABV govt., or BJD govt before that ? Ahy wasn't Art. 370 was given a consideration during all non - Congress governments before 2004 ?

Secondly, would BJP have succeed in abrogation of Art 370 if it was running a partnership govt as MMS did ?

Thirdly, will Modi govt take courage in doing away the reservations based on caste which was the creation of Congress ?

It's not as easy to run a government on seat shaing basis whereas MMS did excellently with economical desicisions with whatever strength his govt had. But BJP literally sold us Indians' savings resting with RBI, God knows to who. He may have to answer about it to many government that will come to power hereafter.

On the contrary when Jawaharlal Nehru invoked article 370 in J &K there were jubilations, celebrations, businesses were brisk and people irrespective of region were very happy. But now after you revoked the same article a permanent dark gloom is in the valley with your iron fist rule and people are prisoners in thier own house. Your claim has communal and polarizing stink.
