Karti's 10 cr won't be released for 3 more months: SC

New Delhi, Sep 6 (IANS): The Supreme Court on Friday said that Rs 10 crore deposited by Karti Chidambaram with the apex court's registry for travelling abroad, will not be released for another three months.

A bench headed by Justice Deepak Gupta said the amount will continue to remain in fixed deposit.

Karti Chidambaram had deposited the amount pursuant to the condition imposed by the top court for his foreign visit.

The court had allowed him to travel to the UK, the US, France, Germany and Spain in May and June this year.

He is facing charges in a case relates to the alleged irregularities in granting Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) approval in the Aircel-Maxis deal in 2006 when his father P. Chidambaram was the Union Finance Minister.
