New Delhi, Jul 6: A 21-year-old Nepali woman, who had come to Delhi a few weeks ago was gang raped by three men in east Delhi, police said Sunday.

The woman from Nepal had come to Delhi June 21. She was staying in north Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar area. She was promised a job in the Gulf by a person called Manoj, police said.

The assault on the woman occurred late Saturday when Manoj took her to the Delhi international airport and abandoned her there.

"The woman, after she found that her name was missing from the passengers' list, took an auto to Mukherjee Nagar," a police officer said.

"The auto driver, however, took her to Mandawali to his friends' place where she was intoxicated and raped by the auto driver's friend and two other men," the police officer added.

The woman was discovered roaming the streets in a distraught condition by some passerbys who informed the police.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital for where the medical examination confirmed rape.

Two of the accused have been arrested so far, police said.

We have a very rich and unprecedented culture. We treat guests with utmost respect. This act is totally against our heritage and perpertrators of the crime must be hanged. This is clear violation of human rights. We stand against pub culture, valentines day etc., why dont we stand up against crime against women? Are we not hypocrites and applying double standards according to our convenience??
