Mangaluru: Milagres College NSS extends service to Antara Village, Belthangady taluk

Mangaluru, Sep 7: Milagres College National Service Scheme in association with Government First Grade College, Kavoor, here and other organisations like Lions International Highland, Lions International Alangar, Youth Red Cross recently rendered remarkable service to the flood victims of Antara Village, Belthangady taluk.

A group of 34 volunteers along with Cassin Rodrigues, vice principal and Lions Alangar president, assistant NSS programme officer Princita J D'Souza, Raison and Joel Harry, support staff rendered a day’s service to the affected people.



The volunteers cleared silt accumulated in the areca and coconut farm of Chandayya Gowda, Surayya and Ugappa Moolya. The entire service camp was assisted by a villager, Manju Thomas. This service provided experiential education where learning occurs through a cycle of action. Exposure like this camp provides a sense of belonging to the students and makes them part of community participation and social responsibility.
