Argentina invites India for Mar del Plata Film Festival


New Delhi, Sep 7 (IANS): The Instituto Nacional de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales (INCAA), which is the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts in Argentina, has invited India for the Mar del Plata Film Festival and Ventana Sur 2019, an initiative of INCAA and the Marche du Film/Festival de Cannes. Argentina has also expressed keenness to explore co-production possibilities with India.

"As part of the outreach for the Golden Jubilee edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI), the Indian delegation at the ongoing Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2019 met with a number of stakeholders from the international film-making industry and apprised them of the proposed festival architecture," the Indian governement said in a statement.

The meetings were held in the India pavilion set up by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. Lisa Macleod, Argentine Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, was among the prominent personalities who visited the India pavilion.

The Indian delegation also met other Argentine officials a possible collaboration between India and Argentina.

The objective of the meetings was to seek INCAA's help to reach out to the Argentina government for IFFI 2019 to be held in Goa in November.

INCAA said that India should participate in the Mar del Plata International Film Festival 2019, the premiere film fest in Argentina, and also in Ventana Sur 2019, which is attended by the entire Latin American community.

The Mar del Plata International Film Festival will be held between November 9 and November 18, just before the commencement of IFFI 2019.
