Lucknow, Sep 7: Uttar Pradesh Government has revised the cost for fancy vehicle registration numbers. With the revised charges, now it will cost Rs 15,000 to Rs 1 lakh for important, attractive, very important and very attractive numbers, says the notification came on September 5.

Earlier, the fancy number plate charges were from between Rs 3,000 to Rs 20,000.

With the new rules, the government has also relaxed vehicle registration number portability and allowed portability of registration numbers for both commercial and non-commercial vehicles.

Previously, to avail the portability facility, one must own the vehicle for minimum three years. With the new rule, this requirement is no longer applies.

Delhi government has fetched a whopping Rs. 50 lakh in the e-auction of fancy registration numbers for vehicles held in Delhi, this year. In which, the fancy number 0001 was sold for Rs 7.70 lakh, as per PTI sources.
