Mangaluru: Cheery Onam celebration held at St Aloysius PU College

Mangaluru, Sep 8: Onam celebration at St Aloysius PU College here, was held on September 7 amidst great cheer and bonhomie.

Onam marks the homecoming of the mythical King, Mahabali and it is also celebrated as the harvest festival of Kerala.

A large floral carpet decorated with flowers and petals was displayed at the reception area spreading the essence of joy and happiness.

The cultural programmes included a Thiruvathira (traditional dance), Onapattu (song about history of Onam) followed by a musical treat.

'Pookalam' , a floral rangoli competition was organized to mark the occasion.

Fr Clifford Sequeira SJ, principal narrated the significance of Onam through his message.

Onam sweets were distributed to the staff and students.
