Mangaluru: District sand lorry owners’ union terms Sasikanth Senthil as corrupt

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru Sep 9: Dakshina Kannada District Sand Lorry Owners’ Union has accused former deputy commissioner of the district, Sasikanth Senthil, who resigned on Friday, of being a corrupt officer.

Addressing the media here on Sunday September 8, president of the said association, Jayaraj Shetty, said that Senthil had created several lobbies with regard to sand mining during his tenure with ulterior intentions. He claimed that the erstwhile deputy commissioner had committed irregularities in the matter of 10,000 metric tonnes of waste collected by the dredging of fishing harbor. He also claimed that he had granted GPS tender for a company blacklisted in Udupi, and had committed wrongs through the formation of sand bazaar application without government authorization.

He also said, "Deputy commissioner Sasikanth Senthil was responsible for the increase of sand price of from Rs 3000 to Rs 14000. He erred in conducting dredging at Thumbay dam. For a single permit, he permitted sand extraction of sand at various places. He had received kickback in granting of tender to a company named T For You. Wrongs were also committed in fixing of GPS to sand trucks and in giving the seized sand to a single company. Even in the sand distribution, DC supported some political leader and also some former ministers. MLA U T Khader also intervened in the matter," he stated.

He further said that Senthil has provided wrong information to the state high court when it sought details.

The association has decided to complain to the state Lokayukta with regard to all these scams with a request conduct probe, he informed.

    Respectable DC's written statements imply that he has been under pressure from powerful politicians. These sand/truck mafia betrayed themselves and their Masters. If they were clever, they should have kept mum till things cooled down. In their overenthusiastic fervour and foolishness to obey their Masters, they gave a huge clue. If the government is really honest, they should arrest these guys and make them reveal the truth. We all know, there won't be any investigation and the issue will die a natural death.

    It is sure that the Sand mafia is the lonely reason for the Hona’ble DC‘s decision;
    The truck owners itself proving because DC took the strict action against illegal activities. Now I request DK District DSP to check the truck which are moving around for SAND illegal activities, check all the truck were carrying the load more than the designed and permitted as per the legal aspects, we observe several trucks are modified the height of the truck by welding additional metal plates to increase the capacity to load more than 2 to 3 units were as the designed is 1.5 units. This is the reason most of the Mangalore Roads are getting damaged, Hona’ble DSP has to take strong action against this through RTO to follow-up the traffic rules for these type of trucks also. Please do not show your ability to put the fine for general publics, take action against these type of mafia also.
    And the great service providers of Swatch Mangalore team , Please move around the River Bangs , kindly observer how sand mafia owners are constructed the Shelters to their workers on the river bank itself , were are the toilets for these people ? Where are the bath rooms? Why contractor is not providing them rooms in residential zones ; how they are allowed to stay on river bangs ? how we are maintain our rivers clean ?, All Mangalorians has to think once we are using river water for our regular use , hence each and every one has to think about this.
    And also as per the Zonal regulations for building a house we have to convert the agricultural land to residential but sand mafia is using the agricultural land itself for their commercial activities , please think about our regulations.

    It is observed that nowadays several trucks are running early in morning at around 4 am and delivering the Sand without any permits, is it illegal. And permit issuing time is only after 8 am, so how trucks move before this?
    First of all RTO officials has to check all Trucks Records, Most of the trucks moving around with Sand movements are illegal and won’t have any proper records. It is observed the old trucks are moving around with new no plates and a few seized trucks are replaced with the old trucks from the police stations, this has to be checked by all concern authorities so that the reality will come out.

    Sand Mafia was stopped during Senthil period, Earlier, these sand vendors used to send Sand to Bangalore for 40 to 50 thousand per load, same time sand vendors started to loot locals by increasing the price up to 16 thousand per load, Now same sand we can buy through sand bazar for 6 thousand per load which is created by Mr Senthil. This press conference motivated by BJP leaders as a Revenge.
