Chandigarh, Sep 9 (IANS): Union Food Processing Industries Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal here on Monday said India attempted to create history through its moon mission and Prime Minister Narendra Modi should be given the credit for that.
"Our scientists of the Chandrayaan-2 lunar mission tried to reach the moon without any foreign help. It's something to feel proud of," Kaur said while presenting the government's report card for the first 100 days.
She said the central government was striving for the inclusive development, empower the downtrodden and put the country in the league of global super powers.
Before addressing the media, she released a booklet titled "100 days of bold initiatives and decisive actions". It enlists important decisions taken by the government in its second term.
She said despite the global slowdown India was growing at a fast clip and pointed to merger of banks to create large global lenders and strengthen credit expansion. She said the government was taking initiatives to support the automobile sector and help borrowers and other businesses with rate cuts.
Kaur said her ministry had sanctioned 106 projects, including four for Punjab, in the first 100 days.
Mentioning abrogation of Article 370, triple talaq law and the POCSO Act as historic decisions, the Minister from Punjab said the government had made it clear to the hostile forces that any attack on the sovereignty would not be tolerated.
