Udupi, Sep 10: ‘Youth Fest’ was organized by St Cecily’s PU College, to celebrate the joy of being a Cecilian.
The event was held on August 31, in the precincts of the college. The presence of the Ex-Cecilians of the PU College illumined the occasion. Dr Andrea Salins, Ex-Cecilian (2010-2012), presently working as DMO at Lombard Memorial Hospital, Udupi, was the chief guest of the day. The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest, the principal and ex-cecilians, who fixed 16 leaves on the ‘Cecilian Tree’ representing the 16 batches of P U students (2004 – 2019). In her message, Dr Andrea expressed the need for the students to utilize their opportunities to the best of their ability.
A miscellany of enthralling performances was presented by the present Cecilian students. The audience was regaled by a host of lively dances, melodious songs and a meaningful street play. A glorious Yakshagana performance presented by Chaitra Shetty, Ex-Cecilian (2010-2012), added splendour to the occasion. Nostalgic memories were revived as some of the alumni reminisced their days at St. Cecily’s. A variety of entertaining games were conducted by Usha and Shalet and the winners were awarded cash prizes.
The chief guest Dr Andrea was accompanied on the dais by Sr Rachana, the principal, Vinet D’Souza, the coordinator of the programme, Annette Fernandes, senior lecturer and Jessie, who introduced Dr Andrea to the audience. Renita Lewis compeered the event and Crystal proposed the vote of thanks.
