Mangaluru: St Ann’s High School celebrates 'Girl Child Day'

Mangaluru, Sep 12: 'To be a girl is pride not shame'- On this theme, Girl Child Day celebrations were held at St Ann’s High School, here on Saturday September 7.

The programme began with a 'love offering' made by the students on the occasion of feast of Nativity to inculcate the virtues of love and sacrifice of mother Mary among the students.

The chief guest of the day was Sharada, teacher of Carmel CBSE School in the city.



The programme was initiated by a prayer service and a creative welcome dance.

The students were educated on the rights of girls and the importance of empowerment of girls in modern society. The students put up a dance drama and a skit on the theme 'Beti Bachao Beti Padao' which portrayed the need for girls to be educated.

The chief guest and the Headmistress Sr Elena encouraged the students to uphold their dignity as girls and to make use of the facilities provided for them by the school.

The programme was presented by the students of std 9 A.
