Mangaluru, Sep 13: Mangaluru Lawyers Association members have expressed satisfaction on the stay order issued on Tulu movie ‘Girgit’.
Addressing a press meet on Thursday, September 12, Mangaluru Lawyers Association chief secretary H V Raghavendra warned that lawyers will severely protest against movies that showcase legal community and legal system in a derogatory manner.
Senior lawyer M P Shenoy had argued in favour of the Bar Association in the court. Junior civil judge Harish who heard the arguments ordered for a stay.
A press release from Mangalore Bar Association which was released earlier in the day said, "An injunction order has been passed against the Tulu movie Girgit for the derogatory, defamatory statements against the advocates and for the mockery of the judicial system of the nation. The injunction order has been passed by the Principal civil judge, DK Mangalore in O. S 1152/2019.”
Senior lawyer M P Shenoy, Association president N Narasimha Hegde, vice president Jinendra Kumar, joint secretary Sharmila, treasurer Aruna B P and executive committee members were present for the press meet.
