CBI arrests private firm VP in graft case of MHA officer


New Delhi, Sep 13 (IANS): A day after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a Home Ministry official, the agency on Friday said that it has arrested the Vice President of a private company in an ongoing investigation of a bribery case.

The officials said the arrested accused has been identified as Ramachandran Rao Patri, the VP of Soma Enterprises.

The agency arrested Dheeraj Kumar Singh, posted as a Section Officer in the home ministry on Thursday red-handed with Rs 16 lakh and a person named Dinesh Chand Gupta.

The CBI registered a case on a complaint received from a CBI officer alleging that a Section Officer of the MHA and a private person offered him a bribe of Rs two crore in lieu of his help in settling a Preliminary Enquiry, being dealt with by the CBI.

The CBI carried out searches at the premises of the accused which led to the recovery of certain incriminating documents.
