Managalore, Jul 10: “The knowledge of God makes a man perfect where and knowing God is the real knowledge which helps to succeed in life”, said Dr Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips, the Canadian Muslim scholar, in a talk at Milagres Hall on Friday July 10.

Dr Bilal Philips said, “Knowledge can be obtained by knowing God and his way. The one who seeks knowledge is one who knows God. The belief in God never becomes a blind belief and it is proved by the Greek philosophers like Plato and Aristotle”.

He said that the global culture we are looking at now is not a perfect one, adding that culture and civilizations must have soul.

“Technology has made us lose our soul as well as the knowledge of God.  A man with the knowledge of God can walk on the right path”, he added.

Dr Bilal Philips spoke on ‘Seeking Knowledge-A Duty Upon Every Muslim’. Ahmed Ansar, president, South Karnataka Salafi Movement, presided over the function. Suhail, co-ordinator, Preston International College, introduced the guest.

The programme was conducted by Preston International College and South Karnataka Salafi Movement.

The objectives and activities of this movement always aimed at:

    1. Liberating the Muslim Ummah from Shirk practices such as tomb worship, bida, taqleed etc.

    2. Asking Muslims to give up dividing the Muslims on the basis of Shia, Sunni, Shafi, Hanafi, Maliki, Hanbali thus asking them to come out of the shackles of the so called 4 (four) cannons of compulsory Madhab and, urge them to take guidance from Quran and Sunnah.

Clifford D’souza, there is no restriction in Quran to publish women’s photo if she is wearing the clothes as per shariah (Clothing must cover the entire body, only the hands and face may remain visible), even ultra-conservative country like Saudi Arabia publish women’s photos in their news paper’s even Islamic channels also broadcast the program in which women’s participate and ask questions with the speakers/orators.

I am a practing muslim and I know what my religion says. Its alright if there was a seperate arrangements for women and its really good. However, no where it was mentioned in the press brief that seperate seating arrangements have been made for women. Now the clarification has come from the organisers and confusion is cleared. Good work. May Allah bless you and help you to clear the air of misuderstanding about Islam.

mr.lawrence saldanha and shahnawaz kukkatte. "islam forbids free mixing of men and women" the prgm was conducted as per islamic values.(quraan and hadees). it is not a protest where women and men sit side by side giving dharnas. and for your kind information women were also allowed in the program, with a seperate sitting arrangement. the holy quraan says... “And stay in your houses, and do not display yourselves like that of the times of ignorance, and perform As-Salaah (Iqamat-as-Salaah), and give Zakaah and obey Allaah and His Messenger. Allaah wishes only to remove Ar-Rijs (evil deeds and sins) from you, O members of the family (of the Prophet), and to purify you with a thorough purification” [al-Ahzaab 33:33] “O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) all over their bodies (i.e. screen themselves completely except the eyes or one eye to see the way). That will be better, that they should be known (as free respectable women) so as not to be annoyed” [al-Ahzaab 33:59]

Great work from SKSM!! Before i comment i dont agree with Mr.Shahanawaz & Mr.Lawrence.Guys it''s not neccessary of presence of Womens or men where this program been conducted to seek the truth.Even you never know if they present or not and you only commenting by seeing the above pictures. It''s nice to see all the muslim community leaders in one place and i hope after haering this speech they should convey this message to educate their followers about the truth and encourage them to seek more knowledge about Islam, A peaceful relegion, which will eradicate all the current problems facing by people of this world.Once again i appreciate this great work from SKSM and Appreciate brother Bilal too.

Dear friends, I agree that knowledge of God makes man perfect but it depends on the kind of knowledge imparted on innocent minds. The absence of women listeners among the audience is a notable point which takes us back to the Old Testament era or perhaps they have a separate session.

Though the essence of the programme was good. Is it only the duty of men to know God and women folks were exempted from it. The organisers should have arranged for women spectators too. If women are given spiritual lessons, it would have long and far reaching healthy effects on household, society as teachings begins at home from mothers. Good work and keep it up.

Good initiative and programmme undertaken by the Preston International College and S.K. Salafi Movement. While we need God and His Devine Guidance in our day-to-day living, it is much more important that we educate the people, specially the illiterate ones, and continuously teach them to appreciate and accommodate the other communities and/or religions, and their culture and way of living, and mend our own ways if needed, so that we always live in harmony and friendship.
