BJP objects to milk, chicken from same outlet in MP

Bhopal, Sep 14 (IANS): The Madhya Pradesh government's new project to sell milk and chicken from the same outlet has snowballed into a big controversy here with the opposition BJP slamming the move saying it hurts the religious sentiments of Hindus.

The Kamal Nath-led Congress government opened the first such outlet here in Vaishali Nagar, as part of a pilot project to increase the earnings of tribal women.

Animal Husbandry Minister Lakhan Singh said that quality products are being provided to people under this project.

"People will get good quality eggs and milk from the same outlet. Tribals will get employment. Kadaknath chicken is also being sold at the chicken parlour which is only available in Jhabua and Alirajpur," Singh said.

Kadaknath is an Indian breed of chicken originating from the Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh, where it is known as 'kali masi'.

Objecting to the move, BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma wrote to Chief Minister Kamal Nath saying the new initiative will hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus.

"Milk and chicken are sold from the same outlet. This hurts the sentiments of our Hindu brothers and sisters. This is wrong. I request the government to look into the matter," Sharma said.

Sharma advised the government to open two different outlets instead, for milk and chicken - one some distance away from the other.

"Before the start of Navratra, the government must take steps to set up different parlours for milk and chicken. The government must issue an order immediately in this regard," Sharma added.

Vote for BJP. Soon the entire nation of India will turn into vegetarian and teetotal. No more drinks or Non-Veg. I wonder how all the bhakhts who preach in the daytime and then throng the bars to eat and drink will find this change in lifestyle.

Madhya Pradesh has been plagued with some of the highest numbers of malnutrition and undernourishment cases in children for a long time. According to recent surveys, 40% of India's children are underweight and in Madhya Pradesh alone, 60% of children below three years of age are underweight.

Back in 2015, Arif Aqueel, the lone Muslim MLA in the 230 members strong Madhya Pradesh state assembly, has decided to file public interest litigation, seeking court directives to the MP government to perform last rites of cows following their death.

But the bill was rejected by the House as the ruling BJP opposed it and when put to vote it fell through by a margin of 55 to 31 votes. Aqueel is the lone Muslim MLA in the 230 member MP Assembly.

“I have decided to file a PIL seeking last rites of cows that die natural deaths, to be performed by the state government. We respect the feelings of our Hindu brothers. They consider cow as their mother, therefore its sacredness should be maintained even after its death,” said Aqueel, a Congress MLA from Bhopal North.

Today this the same BJP which rejected the last rites of the dead 'Gau Mata', now found milk and chicken selling in same outlet objectionable. In 2015, Madhya Pradesh government opposes eggs in mid-day meals

Under the BJP's Shivaraj Singh government, at least 64 children died every day in Madhya Pradesh In 2016. The state's Infant Mortality Rate(IMR) is worse than some African nations. Madhya Pradesh, one of the BIMARU states, has the highest infant mortality rate (IMR) in the country with 52 deaths of children less than one year of age per 1,000 live births. It also has the highest death rate in the rural areas with over 8 deaths in a year per 1,000 people, as per a 2014 survey done by the registrar general of India.

When the malnutrition takes the tall innocent children's of the nations, the BJP finds religion in milk and chicken.
