CAB bans U-13 player, academy for age fraud


Kolkata, Sep 15 (IANS): The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has handed a two-year ban to Under 13 player Nitesh Chowdhury and one year suspension to Abdul Masood Cricket Academy here for being involved in an incident related to age fraud.

The CAB cricket and sub-junior committee imposed the two-year ban on Nitesh, while the academy was handed down a one-year ban with immediate effect starting from September 14 2019, a CAB statement said.

The age fraud incident was revealed during the knockout stage of the CAB sub-junior U-13 tournament.

According to the statement, the meeting was chaired by CAB Vice President Samar Paul, who is also the chairman of the cricket sub committee, and strict action taken to make sure no such incident affects the quality of cricket in future.
