New Delhi, Sep 23: Renowned journalist Mark Tully made a statement stating Muslims in India are luckier than those in Islamic countries, as they can worship in any Islamic tradition.
Tully who is residing in Delhi currently asserted that due to India's spirit of tolerance different religions can co-exist with each other. Giving an instance for the statement, Tully spoke about the Nizamuddin area, location of the Tablighi Jamaat's headquarters, who are extremely conventional and rigid in their ways. Then Tully compared it with the Sufis who pray at the tomb of Nizamuddin Auliya and sing qawwalis. Through the reference claiming that Muslims in India enjoy a certain level of freedom as compared to the ones living in the Islamic countries.
Further, Tully also stated that India has spirituality and that the country's strength lies in its spiritual tolerance.

The speech by Tully on India and Muslims in India has been mentioned in the latest issue of The Equator Line magazine, titled 'Home and the World.'
