New Delhi, Sep 23 (IANS): The Bar Council of India (BCI) on Monday wrote to Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi and expressed concern that the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) is becoming home to students behaving in an unruly and indisciplined manner, citing an incident at NLSIU Bangalore where they have boycotted classes.

BCI Co-Chairman Ved Prakash Sharma in the letter to the Chief Justice has disclosed acts of misdemeanour and indiscipline by the students body of NLSIU Bangalore.

The BCI demanded action against the students.

Sharma said in his letter that the agitating students have even announced that they will stay away from the examinations beginning on September 23.

"The student body is indulging in acts of misdemeanour and indiscipline which is bringing down the image of institution. The student body is crossing it's limit by trying to question the functioning of the executive council and accusing the registrar by imputing motives on him for allegedly halting the process of appointment of Professor Sudhir Krishnaswamy as Vice Chancellor, totally forgetting that the registrar is also a senior professor of NLSIU and commands respect in the academic circles as an acclaimed teacher of law," the letter stated.

He said that rumours are being spread about a change in the composition of the Executive Council (EC).

The BCI requested for a review of the appointment of Sudhir Krishnaswamy as Vice Chancellor and to restore discipline in the campus.

It also urged The Chief Justice to include the letter for discussion in the agenda of the next EC meeting to be held on September 28.

Students of NLSIU Bangalore have resolved to boycott the upcoming exams in the background of a "crisis" at the University.

Protests against the non-appointment of Krishnaswamy began on Friday when students decided to boycott classes and sit outside Registrar O.V. Nandimath's office.
