Mangaluru, Sep 24: Milagres College and Mangalore University Commerce Teacher’s Association (MUCTA) in association with Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund organized an Investor Awareness Programme on Monday, September 23, at the Milagres College Auditorium.
Dr Udaya Kumar M A, principal University College, Mangaluru, was the chief guest .He spoke on capital formation, investment and success and failure as experience.
Leo Amal, branch manager, Franklin Templeton Asset Management India Pvt Ltd was the guest of honour, said the early you start to invest the early you gain good returns.
Fr Michael Santhumayor, principal, Milagres College, graced the event as president of the function. Cassin Rodrigues, vice principal, Ivin D’souza, president, Student Council, were present on the dais.
In the workshop, 12 colleges were represented by 100 students. There were four sessions.
Session I: Resource speaker was Naveen Rego, Certified Financial Planner, SEBI Registered Investment Adviser. He said that we have to learn to save first before we spend, and said that if we have to buy things which we do not need, later we will have to sell the things which we need. He suggested students to use internet banking and digital methods.
Session II: Resource speaker was Leo Amal A, Branch Manager, Franklin Templeton Asset Management (India) Pvt. Ltd.,Mangaluru, India, He spoke on when to start investing? He explained Time Value of Money, Simple interest, Compound interest and Real Rate of interest
Resource Speaker for Session III and IV Elston Menezes, Yvonil Dsouza and Sapna Shenoy on Personal Money Management. The student were made to understand about investment in diversification in Mutual Fund, Stocks and Shares. A small movie on investment was played during the session.
The workshop concluded with investment exercise and quiz.
