Camps in Odisha blocks for driving license, PUC certificate

Bhubaneswar, Sep 24 (IANS) The Odisha government on Tuesday said it would set up temporary camps at block and sub-divisional levels to issue learner's license and Pollution under Control (PUC) certificates to vehicle owners in the wake of implementation of the amended Motor Vehicle Act.

"These camps will be held to facilitate the issuance of learning driving licenses. These camps will be helpful for people of rural areas to obtain vehicle-related documents," said Transport Minister Padmanabh Behera.

Behera said pollution testing of vehicles will also be conducted in these camps.

Though the new traffic rules came into effect on September 1, the state government has announced relaxation of document checking for a period of three months.

The Transport Department has asked vehicle owners to ready their documents, including the PUC certificate, by the end of November.

It has made online pollution testing certificate mandatory with effect from October 1.
