Udupi, Jul 18: The road laid under the ‘Pradan Mantri’s Gram Sadak Yojana’ at Kanakoda–Padukare, coming under the jurisdiction of Udyavar gram panchayat, was washed away in sea erosion caused by huge tidal waves on the Arabian Sea, here on Friday July 17.

 
The sea has been turbulent due to incessant rains that have lashed the coastal district over the past few weeks.  arge boulders were dumped to act as a safe wall along the coast near Pandarinat Bhajan Mandir, Padukere, in Udyavar gram panchayat some days ago, in order to support the concrete road laid under the Gram Sadak Yojana. 
 
The tidal waves washed away a large portion of the concrete road as well as large boulders that were dumped along the road.:
 
The Bhajan Mandali is now in a precarious state as sea erosion has intensified.  The locals urged the district administration to take necessary measures at the earliest, to save the worship centre which might wither away otherwise.
