Al-Jubail, Jul 18: The first-ever NGC-sponsored 12-over Cricket Knock-out Tournament, 'NGC Trophy – 2009,' was held on Friday July 17, at DYWIDAG ground, Al-Jubail, KSA.
The winner's and runner's trophy were sponsored by Nabel Al Ghanem Contracting (NGC), one of the leading contracting and manpower companies established by the distinguished businessman, Mohammed Ismail Krishnapura, in Al-Jubail city, eastern region of Saudi Arabia.
The NGC Trophy 2009 event was organized with the support and sponsorship of Mohammed Ismail Krishnapura (owner of NGC), with commitments by the NGC team captain Mansoor Krishnapura and his team members.
All the matches were played under the flood lights, starting at 6.30 pm. Team Classic and Konkan played the first semi final of this magnificent event. Classic entered the final, to play against the winners of second semi final, which was won by DYWIDAG against NGC.
Chief guests and hundreds of cricket fans witnessed the grand finale held between Team Classic and DYWIDAG. After a prolonged battle under the eye-catching floodlights, DYWIDAG inflicted defeat on Team Classic. The victory was marked by the team spirit and excellent game plan of DYWIDAG captain, Kaiser, who utilized the team resources well. As such, DYWIDAG deservedly lifted the 'NGC Trophy- 2009'.
Experienced cricketer Noorudin Bajal, U K Asif, Nawaz Angaragundi and Usman supported the tournament organizers by discharging responsibility in the capacity as umpires for the matches.
Well known commentator Imran Krishnapura dubbed as commentator for the finals, assisted by Kalandar Krishnapura. Mehboob was the score recorder for the whole event.
A colourful finale trophy presentation ceremony, was witnessed by hundreds of cricket fans who enjoyed the match by cheering and bursting crackers all around the ground. The presentation ceremony was nicely arranged by Shahid. Mehtab Aaalam (DYWIDAG), Mohammed Ismail Krishnapura (NGC), Imthiyaz Krishnapura (NGC Partner) Mansoor Krishnapura ( NGC Partner & Captain of NGC), Abul Razak (Moosa Contracting Co.), Usman Krishnapura (Al Jubail), Usman (Delta) and Khalandar Krishnapura ( Al Bawardi-Jubail) participated as chief guests.
Chief guest Usman Krishnapura presented gifts to the DYWIDAG ground Volunteers for their support. He also handed over the 'man of the match’ award to Kaiser, who played a wonderful game in the grand finale event.
Abdul Razak and Imtiyaz Krishnapura distributed trophies to the best performers of each of the matches.
Another chief guest, Mohammed Ismail Krishnapura, presented the magnificent trophy to the captain of DYWIDAG, Kaiser. All players of the winning team were also awarded with medals by Mansoor Krishnapura, MGC captain.
Congratulating the winners and runners of NGC Trophy 2009 - grand finale at the end, Imran Krishnapura thanked all the guests who had gathered to witness the presentation ceremony and every one who had directly or indirectly supported Team NGC's efforts in organizing this enormous, most well-planned event to have been witnessed in Al-Jubail.
