Udupi, Sep 26: St Mary's Educational Institutions, career guidance, job guidance unit and Swapna Book Gallery, Mangaluru organised a book exhibition and book sale fair in a discussion room of St Mary's College, Shirva.

Prof Rajan V N, principal of the college inaugurated the programme. Speaking on the occasion, he said that in this competitive world, students must be aware of day to day events taking place in and around the globe. Through education, they must undergo a mindset of invention or must be able to learn new things from books. Many great personalities have penned their experiences and thoughts in books. Overall development is only possible when students read a book and implement some of the values in their life.

"Books are the mirrors of humans progress. They teach us good lessons in our life. A person's creativity comes into light and he tries to express his emotional feelings and thoughts only when he indulges in books," said Prof Lieutenant K Praveen, director of career guidance unit.

Josy D'Souza, college office superintendent, Prof Laxmi Acharya, post-graduate department of Social Work, Prof Yashoda, head of Kannnada department, Giridhar of Swapna book house and team, teaching and non-teaching staff and students were present at the programme.

College librarian, Pramod welcomed the gathering while the college librarian, Tanuja N Suvarna delivered the vote of thanks.
