New Delhi, July 20 (IANS): Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh says "I agree" with what Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi said against Chief Minister Mayawati.
"I agree with what Rita had said. I would not repent. Mayawati got what she deserved," Singh said in a tele-conference he addressed from Singapore Monday.
He said the Congress might expel Joshi so as not to annoy Dalit voters.
Singh said it was high time for the Congress to "choose between the Samajwadi Party or Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP)" as an ally.
Joshi was arrested after being charged with denigrating Dalits and Mayawati in a speech last Wednesday. She was released from jail Saturday after being granted interim bail.
Joshi has already apologised for her remarks and demanded that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe the arson attack on her house following her remarks.
