BJP going to polls based on development work: Modi

New Delhi, Sep 30 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the BJP is going for polls in Haryana and Maharashtra based on the party's development work and the "double engine" of having the party ruling both the Centre and states.

In a late night tweet, the PM said: "Joined extensive Central Election Committee meetings for elections in Haryana and Maharashtra. We are going to polls in these states based on our development work and double engine of the Centre and State Governments, led by popular as well as industrious Chief Ministers."

Earlier, the Central Election Committee of the BJP held a meeting on Sunday to finalise its candidates for the assembly elections in Haryana and Maharashtra.

Party chief and Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP Working President JP Nadda were also present at the meeting.

The meeting lasted several hours.

The meeting was held a day after the PM returned to Delhi on Saturday night from his successful US trip, where he addressed the UN General Assembly and the "Howdy Modi!" event at Houston.

Both Maharashtra and Haryana are going to polls on October 21. The last day for filing of nomination is October 4.

    Development, my foot!!
All treasuries are getting emptied. Reserve bank money is being used to make up for losses of banks.
NPAs of most of the banks have gone up to such high figures during BJP-1 period that now customers are being made to face the consequences. That is real development.
LIC money is being siphoned out in the name of development.
No black money is coming out. Instead, to eyewash the public, few opposition leaders and govt officials are being harassed.
The "A" companies are being given govt contracts and involvement in privatisation in the name of development.
Many have lost jobs and many are on the verge of losing jobs.
    Farmers are left in lurch.
Yes, poor public will get fooled by these activities, thinking that there is development.
If they are little clever, tell them stories of chandrayan or surgical strike, they will get convinced.
