Mumbai, July 22 (IANS) : A key index of the Indian equities markets reversed its day's gains to end 221 points in the red Wednesday, below the 15,000-mark.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 15,124.92 points, lost 221.86 points or 1.47 percent to close at 14,840.63 points (provisional).
Similarly, the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) closed 1.49 percent lower at 4,402.35 points.
Broader market indices ended in the negative as well, with the BSE midcap index closing 0.83 percent down and the BSE smallcap index ending 0.15 percent lower.
