BWF World Jr Mixed C'ship: India outclass Australia 4-1


Kazan (Russia), Oct 1 (IANS): Meiraba Luwang and Tasnim Mir guided India to an impressive 4-1 victory over Australia in their Group E clash of the BWF World Junior Mixed Team Championships here on Tuesday.

In the opening match, Goa's Tanisha Crasto and Chhattisgarh's Ishaan Bhatnagar defeated Jack Yu and Kaitlyn Ea of Australia 21-17, 20-22, 21-11 in the 43-minute contest to give India the first point of the day. Later, Meiraba outclassed Australia's Rio Agustino 21-17, 21-11 in just 29 minutes to help India get its second point for the day.

In the girls' singles, Gujarat's Tasnim Mir, who had bagged two golds at the Dubai Junior International Series, registered a comfortable 21-11, 21-15 victory over Angela Yu in just 22 minutes as India took an unassailable 3-0 lead.

The Manipur duo of Manjit Singh Khwairakpam and Dingku Singh Konthoujam then defeated Ricky Tang and Otto Xing De Zhao 17-21, 21-8, 21-14 in 35 minutes as India led 4-0.

The only setback for India came in the women's doubles affair, which was also the last match of the day, when Aditi Bhatt and Tanisha Crasto went down to Victoria He and Angela Yu 17-21, 21-18, 15-21.
