Mangaluru: Milagres School celebrates Gandhi Jayanti

Mangaluru, Oct 3: India’s third national festival, Gandhi Jayanti, was celebrated at Milagres School to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the Father of our Nation – Mahatma Gandhi on October 2 at Milagres School open ground.

The campus director, Fr Michael Santhumayor, the academic advisor, Prof Lourdsamy and all the section heads presided over the programme.

The programme began with a prayer song. The dignitaries offered flowers to a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi.

Rohan D’Souza of Grade X welcomed the gathering.



The significance of the day was given by Alisha of grade IX followed by a song ‘Bande Mein Tha Dum Vande Mataram’ dedicated to Gandhiji by the school choir. The young Milagreans were determined to announce to the world through a pledge to stop using plastic.

Fr Michael Santhumayor in his presidential address upheld the values of Gandhiji and highlighted the sacrifices he made for the country.

Tejas of grade X compered the whole programme. Wren Pereira of grade X delivered the vote of thanks. The programme concluded by singing the National Anthem.
