Coast Guard seizes 18 Sri Lankan boats for illegal fishing


Chennai, Oct 3 (IANS): The Indian Coast Guard on Thursday said it had apprehended eight Sri Lankan fishing boats, along with 18 crew members, for fishing illegally in the Indian waters.

In a statement issued here the Coast Guard said its ships had apprehended the Lankan fishing boats which had fish illegally caught from the Indian Exclusive Economic Zone.

All the apprehended boats were brought to Karaikal harbor in Puducherry for joint investigation by relevant security agencies.
