Bengaluru, Oct 3: Bengaluru police have arrested ten members of a gang of interstate thieves and confiscated mobile phones worth Rs 1.25 crore from them.
The suspects are Kizar, Pasha, Arif, Nawaz Sharif, Afzal Sharif, Azam, Kaleem, Salman, Sayyed Akbar and Ameer Zameer. 563 mobiles worth Rs 1.25 crore have been seized from them.
Kizar, Pasha, Nawaz, Afzal and Kaleem used to wander about in the different parts of the city and rob mobiles phones from lonely women and youths after threatening them. They also used to snatch mobiles in densely populated spots.
Arif, Asif and Sayyed Akbar used to buy stolen mobiles for cheap prices and send them to other states for sales. Hyderabad based Ameer Zameer used to obtain mobiles for low rates and sell them to people. Bengaluru central police who collected clues about their network prepared a plan for their arrest.
Police constable Ranganath shouldered entire responsibility of the case. He trapped mobiles on the basis of complaint lodged by those who lost them. Most of them were indicating Hyderabad location. Police, who intensified the operation, arrested the suspects.
Among mobiles which were confiscated 92 mobiles are of MI Company, 57 from Vivo, 44 from Oppo, 12 from Apple, 81 from Samsung and 29 from Redmi.
Police have continued questioning the arrested persons.
