SC seeks Centre's response on appointments in NGT

New Delhi, Oct 4 (IANS): The Supreme Court on Friday sought response from the Central government on a plea seeking appointment of judicial and expert members for the National Green Tribunal (NGT) benches across the country.

A bench headed by Justice N.V. Ramana issued notice to the Central government on the plea, which has also sought direction to all the High Courts to hear matters related to the environment till the vacancies are filled up in the NGT.

The petition has claimed that due to non-appointment of judicial and expert members, several NGT benches are lying non-functional.
