Danish Khan takes over from Uday Sodhi as SonyLIV business head

Mumbai, Oct 5 (IANS): Uday Sodhi, business head of SonyLIV, has decided to move on after being associated with the digital business wing of Sony Pictures Network (SPN) for nearly five years, to pursue his entrepreneurial passion in the start-up space.

During his tenure at Sony, Sodhi launched the subscription model and was also responsible for the relaunch of SonyLIV, and the international launch of SonyLIV subscriptions. Under his leadership, SonyLIV emerged as a pioneer in India's OTT space and garnered increasing viewership for several mega sporting events including FIFA World Cup 2018, Euro 2016 and the India-Australia series of 2018.

Sodhi's last day at SPN is November 15.

With Sodhi's exit, the responsibility of guiding SonyLIV falls on Danish Khan, who takes over as the business head of SPN's digital wing. Khan assumes the position in addition to his responsibilities as business head of Sony Entertainment Television (SET) and Studio NEXT.

In a career spanning over two decades, Khan has managed teams across marketing and programming, having worked with Sony MAX, SET and Star Plus.

As business head of SET, Khan guided the channel to the number one spot among Hindi General Entertainment Channels (GEC) in India. Khan also brought marquee shows such as "Kaun Banega Crorepati" and "The Kapil Sharma Show" to SET, and created IPs with unique shows such as "Super Dancer" and "Superstar Singer". He has also been instrumental in launching Studio NEXT, armed with the ambition of making SPN a content leader in the M&E industry.
