Cochin, Oct 6: On Friday, a Kerala man was arrested by the customs for smuggling 1.13 kg of gold. Interestingly, the smuggling itself was not what stood out but how it was pulled off. The accused identified as Noushad, a native of Malappuram, shaved his hair at the centre of his scalp to hide the gold, he then covered it with a wig to make it look natural. Unfortunately, the Customs officers outsmarted him by debunking his move at the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL).
Noushad had smuggled the gold in a compound form when he flew down from Sharjah. The compound form of gold is one of the most common ways of smuggling. It helps in passing through the metal detector undetected. Once in the clear, the smugglers retrieve the metal in its purest form through certain procedures.
As per the officials, Noushad's means of smuggling the gold was one of the first instances, as opposed to the other smugglers who conceal the metal in different body orifices.

The smuggling of gold from the middle eastern country into Kerala is growing by each day. In Noushad's case, officials found that he was just a carrier and further investigation has already begun.
