Meerut, Oct 7: In a raid conducted by the Meerut Police, four people were arrested for transportation of beef. According to the police, the accused were carrying over five tons of mixed beef and buffen (Buffalo meat), in the Kharkonda area. Allegedly, the arrested were planning to export the product.
The Meerut Police received information on this matter from their surveillance team, after which they conducted a raid. Upon questioning, one of the four accused identified himself as a journalist. "The accused generally bought mixed meat from different places and transported it to Delhi, where they had two people in export units," Ajay Sahani, Senior Superintendent of Police said.
Reportedly, the mixed beef and the buffen is frozen, packed and sent to Mumbai so that it can be exported out of the country. The product would be packed according to international standards and would contain an export permit. The perpetrators used to purchase dead animals from the municipality and use the meat for the supply. After a medical examiner checked the product, the arrest took place.
