Moodbidri: Inauguration of 10th batch of MBA programme held at AIET

Moodbidri, Oct 7: Alva’s Institute of Engineering andTechnology (affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University), inaugurated its 10th batch of full-time MBA programme at MBA Seminar Hall in the campus on Oct5.

The new batch comprises of students from all over the country, coming from different disciplines which includes engineering, arts and science.

The induction program for new students started with the orientation programme started on Sept 30 to Oct 4. The aim of the programme was to orient students towards self-introspection, self-discovery and mindfulness.

The inauguration programme commenced with the welcome address by Dr Claret Mendonca, Head of the MBA Department, AIET. In her welcome address she emphasized that management education is something different from the conventional tutelage and it needs learning in real life setting and also learning beyond teaching. 

Dr Mendonca added that in the current era of Artificial Intelligence, Internet of things and Virtual Reality, every day some thing or the other is evolving and the scope for learning for the student is ever increasing and is also putting them in challenging  situations.

The chief guest, Dr Devraj K, Founder Director of SDM PG Centre for Business Management and Research, Mangalore narrated inspirational stories of his studentswho have achieved unparalleled success through hard work and dedication. He praised Vivek Alva, the Managing Trustee -AEF for his vision and teambuilding ability in creating and leading Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology, which has created a niche in the field of education for serving the unserved in the society.

He urged the students to imbibe the great qualities of leaders such as Lal Bahadur Shastri, who was humble, honest and faithful in the smallest things of life. He admired the contribution of the Dr Mohan Alva’s family to the society in providing quality education, their contributions to the world of art, literature and science.

He applauded their magnanimity for having made huge contributions towards the relief work for the flood victims of Karnataka by not hosting the annul cultural events such as Nudisiri and Viraasat this year which are so dear to the Alva family.

Rinu Thomas, Advanced Associate at Ernst and Young, Bangalore was the guest of honour. She is the alumni of the Department of MBA, AIET, who has secured second rank in 2019 in the whole of VTU, was felicitated by the Management. In her reply to the felicitation, she wholeheartedly thanked the management for giving her every opportunity to excel. She inspired her juniors by reiterating the common adage that ‘you shall reap what you sow’. She insisted that, her juniors would never regret their choice of being a student of Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology.

Further Miss Thomas promised to help them with guidance and support when they looked for placements.

Vivek Alva, the Managing Trustee of Alva’s Education Foundation, presided over the function. He thanked Dr Devraj for being a role model to him. He shared his experience of being a student of business management and later a management graduate. He said that management education helped him become a confident communicator, a leader and also a successful entrepreneur. He urged the students to work hard and be committed to their goals. Further, he stressed that MBA is just the beginning of a life long journey of learning.

He also touched-upon the need for students to be consistently curious and mindful of themselves and the opportunities that are out there, so as to explore avenues throughout their life.

Dr Peter Fernandes, principal was also among the dignitaries present. Jyothi, final year student of the MBA department compered the programme.

The inauguration program concluded with the vote of thanks given by Dr Nagendra Sanoor, Sr. Assistant Professor, AIET.
