Vijayapura: Flood relief disbursement delayed to pressurize CM to resign - BJP MLA Yatnal

Vijayapura, Oct 10: The showcase notice issued for speaking against the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has failed to stop BJP MLA, Basangouda Patil Yatnal, from giving vent to his ire against the central leadership of the party once again.

On Wednesday October 9, Yatnal alleged that the delay in releasing central aid for flood hit Karnataka is a political conspiracy aimed at pressurizing the chief minister (CM), B S Yediyurappa, into giving up his post.

“Tell him directly if you do not want him to continue as CM. Take his resignation and choose a new leader in his place. But do not stop release of relief funds and thus provide his opponents a chance to criticize him,” Yatnal commented, lashing out against the BJP central leadership.

The Vijayapura MLA expressed disappointment at the fact that West Bengal CM, Mamata Banerjee, was given an appointment to meet the PM but not Yediyurappa. “What message are you sending? I will raise these questions at appropriate forums. Nothing prevents me from asking them these questions. I am also a party worker and I am the one who built the party," Yatnal told reporters at Vijayapura. He also listed the number of times Yediyurappa came back disappointed after having been unable to meet Narendra Modi.

Yatnal came down heavily on two union cabinet ministers but did not name them. Hinting at Sadananda Gowda and Prahlad Joshi, he blamed them for 'wrongly interpreting' and distorting his statements when bringing them to the notice of the party high command.

“It has been alleged that I am instigating people against BJP central leadership. I want to convey to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, home minister Amit Shah and party working president J P Nadda that I am not against party. All I am trying is that there should not be any damage to the party," he said.

Yatnal’s statements on PM’s apathetic attitude towards people affected due to Karnataka floods has already landed him in trouble. On October 4, a show cause notice was issued for breaching party discipline and he has been given 10 days to submit his explanation.
