Mumbai:Police inspector booked over rape of Russian woman

Mumbai, Oct 12: A rape case is registered against the police inspector of Pimpri Chinchwadi police station here over rape of a Russian woman. It is alleged that the inspector is involved in two murders besides raping the woman. Police have registered a case on the basis of a complaint from the woman.

DCP Pranay Ashok, spokesperson of Mumbai police said that an FIR is being registered against Anil Jadhav, the officer.

The woman's lawyer said that the woman whilst in the country with the intention of joining the film industry was asked by someone to contact the police officer as her passport was about to expire.
