Noida residents brave 'muddy water' from taps

New Delhi, Oct 14 (IANS): Some residents of Noida, particularly from the upscale sector 19, have complained of getting muddy water from taps.

Not just sector 19, which is very close to Sector 18, the commercial hub of Noida, but other sectors are also expected to be affected. The supply of Ganga water has been disrupted and this is said to be the reason for the muddy water. This disruption will continue till October 30, way past Diwali.

With desilting presently underway at the Upper Ganga Canal, many say this is the reason for the muddy water. In fact, it can also affect the supply of water itself.

Residents of sector 19 said the water they receive right now is not even fit for regular chores, leave aside for drinking. It has a yellow tinge to it and some even complain of a black tinge. Many resident have compared it with gutter water.

On Sunday, similar complaints poured in from Sector 20 as well, which is just next to Sector 19 in Noida.

The Noida authority however plans to supply the stock Ganga water till Tuesday, albeit in reduced quantity.
