Arms, ammunition recovered from Maoist hideout in Bihar

Gaya, Oct 14 (IANS): A huge cache of arms and ammunition has been recovered from a forested area under Mohanpur police station in Gaya district, the police said on Monday.

Station in-charge Ravi Bhushan said that the police got information that Maoists have hidden arms and ammunition to be used against the security forces in the forested area of Bardag village here.

"On the basis of credible intelligence inputs, the SSB jawans and police carried out raids in the forest and made a major haul of arms and ammunition," Bhushan said.

He said the seizures include two can bombs weighing up to 5 kg, 18 detonators, one rifle and some ammunition apart from other Maoist stuff.

However, no arrest has been made in this connection so far, the police said.

The anti-bomb squad of the SSB has defused the bombs, the police added.
