Odisha govt announces infra support for four hospitals


Bhubaneswar, Oct 15 (IANS) Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday announced infrastructure support for four hospitals under the 'Mo Sarkar' initiative.

Based on feedback received from people during visit of officials to various districts, the Chief Minister announced support for hospitals in Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and Koraput districts.

Patnaik informed that he has already made 120 phone calls under the initiative, which was launched on Gandhi Jayanti this year.

The Chief Minister said Malkangiri district hospital's bed capacity will be increased to 200 while also announcing the construction of doctors' accommodation and transit home, and a rest shed for attendants of patients.

Besides, bus services from Motu to Malkangiri will be provided daily for the benefit to people visiting the hospital.

He said a detailed planning has been approved for composite hospital with 500 beds at the Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput while the bed strength will be increased to 700 beds in 24 months.

Five ambulances and three hearse vehicles will also be provided to the medical college and hospital.

In the Koraput district hospital, the bed strength will be increased to 250 while new ward will be constructed above the exiting hospital building, said the Chief Minister.

Staff quarters and rest shed for attendants of patients will be built on the premises of the hospital and two new ambulances fitted with life saving equipment will also be provided to the hospital.

Patnaik also said that the bed strength of Nabarangpur district hospital will be increased to 200.

Besides, a 200 bed new hospital building will be constructed.

While a rest shed for patients' attendants will also come up on the hospital premises, three ambulances and three hearse vehicles would be provided to the hospital, he added.

The government approved Rs 15 lakh to all four Rogi Kalyan Samities from Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF) for patient welfare and Rs 10 lakh for Superintendents of Police for promotion of blood donation activities.
