London: Lavanya Rai elected president of Tulu Community UK

London, Oct 15: Tulu Community in the UK (TCUK) held its 5th general body meeting in London on October 6.

The agenda was to discuss accounts, future events and improvements along with the election of committee members for the period 2019-2021. President Ravi Gonsalves completed his two years in the committee. Aspiring to follow the splendid example set by the former president and committee, a new committee was formed.

Lavanya Rai was elected the president for 2019-2021 along with Dharmesh Shetty as secretary, Chandrahas Hegde as treasurer, Jothsna Shetty and Pratap Shetty as IT in-charges, Bhagya Gonsalves and Rashmi Shetty as Media/PR in-charges, Shilpitha Shetty, Sachin Shetty and Pravin Shetty as Entertainment/Cultural Event in-charges, and John Fernandes and Santhan Achunala as sports secretary.

Deepti Shetty, Preeti Rai, Dipti Amin, Teertha Shetty, Ravi Gonsalves, Santosh Rai, Vinod Pademar, Sandeep Shetty, Harish Hegde, Vishal Pujari, Prathvi Shetty, Vineet Shetty, Prasanna Shetty, and Rajesh Shetty were elected as committee members.

TCUK is in the process of finalizing six charities that will be supporting. The details will be announced soon.

Newly elected president Lavanya Rai said, “Going back to your roots. Tulu community events are a great way to familiarize future generations with their roots. It is a great way of catching up with people who come from a similar background. We aim to create a home away from home and we hope we will be able to accomplish this aim through joint efforts of all members of TCUK.”
