Police arrest 4 after burglaries at footballers' homes


Madrid, Oct 17 (IANS): Spanish police have arrested four people for their alleged involvement in a spate of burglaries targeting the homes of LaLiga football players around Madrid in recent months.

Sources close to the investigation confirmed that a group of people comprising three Albanians and a Spaniard, had been detained. They had allegedly also targeted properties in Asturias and Castile and Leon, reports Efe news.

One of the arrested Albanians is allegedly linked to the beating and robbery of businessman Jose Luis Morena in December 2007, according to online Spanish newspaper, eldiario.es.

Among those targeted were Real Madrid's coach Zinedine Zidane and midfielder Isco, as well as Atletico Madrid's midfielder Thomas Partey who was robbed while he was with his teammates in Moscow.
