Bantwal, Oct 18: Carmel College, Modankap and Mangalore University Commerce Teacher’s Association (MUCTA) in association with Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund organized an Investor Awareness Programme on October 15 at the college auditorium.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp. Dr Ravi Shetty, vice-principal, St Aloysius Evening College, Mangaluru was the chief guest.
Leo Amal, branch manager, Franklin Templeton Asset Management India Pvt Ltd was the guest of honour. He spoke about the benefits of investing in various securities at an early age.
Prof Manoj Louis, MUCTA secretary spoke on how MUCTA has taken initiative in making BCom students employable by organizing investor awareness programmes in different colleges of Mangalore University.
College principal, Dr Sr Latha AC presided over the programme. Vinitha Veigas, programme co-ordinator was present on the dais.
Students from various colleges took part in the investor’s awareness seminar. The seminar consisted of four sessions.
Session I: Resource speaker was Naveen Rego, certified Financial Planner and SEBI Registered Investment Adviser spoke on the topic 'Financial Literacy'.
Session II: The second session of the day was ‘When to start investing' for which the resource person was Leo Amal A, branch manager, Franklin Templeton Asset Management (India) Pvt Ltd, Mangaluru, India
Resource persons for Session III and IV were Yvonil D'Souza and Sapna Shenoy. They spoke on Personal Money Management. The students were made to understand investment in diversification in Mutual Fund, Stocks and Shares. A small movie on investment was played during the session.
The workshop concluded with an investment exercise and quiz.
Thejaswi of I BCom compered the programme. Babitha Pereira, III BBA welcomed the gathering and M Sinan of II BBA proposed the vote of thanks.
