Mangalore: The Late Vishukumar Award Conferred on Dr Ramakrishna Gundi Ankola

Mangalore, Aug 3: 'Yuva Vahini' central committee had organized a function in Mulky, for conferring the 'Late Vishukumar Award' on Sunday August 2. A collection of short stories, titled 'Atikranta', authored by Dr Ramakrishna Gundi Ankola was selected for the award, and noted writer V Ga Nayak handed over the award including its cash component, to the author on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, V Ga Nayak called upon the people, particularly the women, to cultivate the habit of reading books and enrich their knowledge.
Former state Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Harikrishna Punaroor, who presided over the ceremony, called upon the people to send their children to school under their own care at least till the tenth standard, so that they get adjusted to the family culture. He also stressed the need to provide education of good refinement and culture at home for the growing children.
'Yuva Vahini' central committee president Chandrashekhar Suvarna welcomed. Former president of the organization, T Shankar Suvarna, delivered introductory address. Writer Muddu Moodubelle spke about the work chosen for the award. Sadhu Poojary introduced the dignitaries.
On this occasion, a collection of Kannada poems titled, 'Kanasu Kannina Hudugi," written by Sharada Tenkakarandoor was released by writer B Shashilekha. General secretary of ‘Yuva Vahini’, Vijaykumar Kubevoor, was present at the dais. Convener of the endowment fund of the organization, Tukaram N, proposed vote of thanks.
