Madrid, Oct 22 (IANS): Having secured his sixth MotoGP world title, Spaniard Marc Marquez arrived in Australia intent on beating Mick Doohan's record to be the most successful Honda rider with 55 Grand Prix (GP) wins.
On a four-race winning streak, Marquez wants to extend his winning streak at the Phillip Island circuit to earn his 14th consecutive podium appearance, the longest successful run of his racing career, reports Efe news.
He has won nine races and came second in four. Marquez has won the Australian MotoGP twice in 2015 and 2017.
"It's one of my favourite tracks, Phillip Island, I really enjoy riding there a lot - especially the left corners! But it's a circuit where many others, and especially Yamaha can be strong," Marquez was cited as saying by his team's website.
"Our target is of course to try to win, but once the weekend begins, we will see where we are and assess the situation. We approach the whole event with the same mentality," he added.
