Mangaluru: Annual sports meet held at St Aloysius Gonzaga School

Mangaluru, Oct 24: The sprawling Gonzaga ground of St Aloysius Gonzaga School was filled with fervor and exhilaration on the beautiful morning of October 22. It was the Annual Sports Meet for classes I to V which was graced by the chief guest Shreema Priyadarshini, who is an inspiring National level athlete, Principal Fr Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ and the vice principal Jacintha D’Costa.

The programme commenced by invoking God’s blessings through a prayer song. Prafulla Tulluri, teacher of class V welcomed the gathering, followed by unfurling of the school flag. As the oath was administered by Aparna Suresh, the spirit of sportsmanship was filled in the minds of young Gonzagaites. An impressive, energized and rhythmic display set the tone for the rest of the events. The chief guest Shreema declared the meet open by releasing balloons.



Vice principal Jacintha D Costa introduced the chief guest. Addressing the students Shreema said that hard work will always pay for a person’s growth in life and advised them to handle success and failure in a balanced manner.

The principal in his speech emphasized on the importance of sports in a child’s life and said that participating in sports will enable to bring out the best in a child.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Vidya Esther, teacher of class V. The formal function was compered by Divya Aravind, teacher of class III and Rasha, the school counselor.

Then the much awaited sports events started which included running race, frog race, long jump and relay. As the budding athletes ran for the finishing line, the spectators motivated them with their enthusiastic cheers. The winners were honored with certificates and medals.

The day came to an end by lowering of the school flag followed by the National Anthem.
