Congress may consider backing a Shiv Sena govt in Maharashtra

Mumbai, Oct 25 (IANS): Buoyed by Thursday's unexpected results in the October 21 Assembly elections, the Maharashtra Congress on Friday hinted that it could offer "support" to a Shiv Sena-led government.

The indication came a day after senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and ex-Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal and senior Congress MP Hussain Dalwai extended similar proposals, ostensibly in a bid to keep Sena ally and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) out of power.

"We have not received any communication from the Sena on this yet. However, if it comes, we shall put it up with the party high command for a decision in the matter," state Congress President Balasaheb Thorat told mediapersons.

The Congress, NCP and all its allies together have bagged a significant chunk of 117 seats in the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly. The BJP-Shiv Sena combined tally stands at 161.

On Thursday evening, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had categorically dismissed such speculative suggestions, affirming that the next government will be formed by the BJP and its allies.

This is really a good move. This makes sure Shiv Sena is wiped out from Maharashtra and all Congress hating Shiv Sena voters will become BJP voters....

It is politics of power. Hence everything is fair in love and war. Can Congress now comment on its pro-Imran and anti-RSS philosophy when they want to get in comfort with Shiv Sena? Kindly watch some videos of Bal Thackheray to see their hatred towards minorities (again only for political gains). Raj Thackerary has no issue with Salman Khan. But this amalgamation is the need of the hour so that neither Congress nor any other party should come out and say how they are for Hindus and how they are for the philosophy behind Hindus. They now only can profess their crush for power.

Political parties and their patrons want only one thing. Power to abuse. On this, they are all on the same ground.

Is this true? Anything can happen in politics. Sharad Pawar was against Sonia becoming PM because of her foreign identity during her run for the PM post. So has she become Indian now? Shiva Sena used to be a communal party for NCP, so have they become secular now? Sharad Pawar somehow wants to become the CM..anyways lets see what happens.

This is marvelous move by Sharad Power. The game what Shah used to play now they are giving him back. This move will create friction between Sena and BJP.

ShivSena has Hindutva ideology and Shivsainiks have participated in Babri Masjid demolition and also Bombay & Dhule Riots. So now Congress wants to align with SS? So the mask of Secularism is off now.
