UN Welcomes UAE Report on Human Rights

Abu Dhabi, Aug 7: The UN Committee on Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) has hailed United Arab Emirates' (UAE) report on human rights achievements in the country, WAM news agency reported Friday.

Jean-Richard Prosper, committee expert and rapporteur for the report of the UAE, said that the country had increased its collaboration with the UN and said that it was progressing in the right direction.

The committee also acknowledged that the UAE had taken serious efforts to combat human trafficking and other forms of organised crime.

Abdul Rahim Yusuf Alawadi, UAE's assistant minister for legal affairs and international organisations, Wednesday presented reports on implementation of the provisions of the International Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Racial Discrimination.
